Erdogan reiterates support to Bosnia's territorial integrity and sovereignty

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke on Saturday with Croat member of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency Zeljko Komsic, reiterating the support to the territorial integrity, sovereignty and constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Turkish Presidency's Communications Directorate said that during the phone conversation, Erdogan said Turkey would continue to support the preserving of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The talk comes amidst a serious political crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina after Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik was sentenced to one year in prison and banned from performing political duties for six years for disobeying the decisions of the high representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Over the past two weeks, Erdogan has separately met Chairwoman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serb member Zeljka Cvijanovic, and Bosniak Presidency member Denis Bećirovic in Turkey.

After these meetings, the Turkish leader said that the unity and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina are of “fundamental importance,” calling separatist approaches in the country unacceptable.
