EU completes second round of negotiations with New Zealand

New Zealand | Brussels, 15 October 2018

EU negotiators were in Wellington, New Zealand from 8 to 12 October 2018 for the second round of negotiations for a trade agreement.

The negotiations were formally launched by Commissioner Malmström and New Zealand Trade Minister David Parker on 21 June 2018 in Wellington. Both sides are aiming for an ambitious and modern deal covering all aspects of the trade relationship.

Talks were held in a constructive atmosphere and during the round the teams made progress across the board. The EU has now shared proposals with the New Zealanders covering almost all areas of the agreement.

As usual, a report from the round will be available on the DG Trade website in the next couple of weeks. The third round is scheduled to take place in Brussels in February 2019.
